This oriental inspired music shows, again, how easily Alexander Abt can adapt to very different styles of music. Coach Rafael Arutunyan, of Armenian origin, suggested the music. It has become quite popular among skaters now, but Sasha was (together with the ice dancers Drobiazko/Vanagas) the first one to use it! Songs from the Victorious City has been inspired mainly be traditional Egyptian music (Cairo, the capital of Egypt, is the "Victorious City").  Sasha's program includes many new and interesting moves, like a sort of a "belly dance" - very unusual for a male skater!

This interesting program underlined Sasha Abt's talent to express different kinds of music. The music is powerful, a bit wild even and not easy to skate to. However, Sasha was able to interpret this classical piece in a modern way.

West Side Story may be an overused music in skating, but Alexander Abt's playful interpretation was very nice to watch. This program proved his outstanding musicality and was artistically very strong for Sasha's age at this time.
